University of Missouri Health Care offers four pharmacy residency programs for pharmacy graduates — post-graduate year one (PGY1) Pharmacy at University Hospital, post-graduate year one (PGY1) Community-Based, post-graduate year two (PGY2) Internal Medicine, and post-graduate year two (PGY2) Critical Care program.
These programs address skills such as critical thinking, self-management and independent decision-making to help participants achieve proficiency and confidence as practitioners in patient care environments. MU Health Care stresses the importance of patient-focused practice in collaboration with all health care professionals.
PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program at University Hospital
The University of Missouri Health Care postgraduate year one (PGY1) Pharmacy residency program will facilitate the development of educators and leaders in Pharmacy practice. The program is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). Our graduates demonstrate excellence in direct patient care and medication use systems, enabling them to confidently pursue their desired area of practice.
PGY1 Community-Based Pharmacy Residency Program
The program is tailored to the education and development of community pharmacists with advanced patient care skills. Rotations are designed to provide the resident with the skills necessary to begin successful careers in innovative community practice settings and to become leaders in the profession. The program is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP).
PGY2 Internal Medicine Pharmacy Residency Program
The University of Missouri Health Care’s Pharmacy Internal Medicine Residency is a postgraduate year two (PGY2) training program and is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). This program offers a one-year position in Internal Medicine Pharmacy residency alongside three PGY1 Pharmacy co-residents and one PGY2 Critical Care co-resident.
PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency Program
The University of Missouri Health Care’s Pharmacy Critical Care Residency is a postgraduate year two (PGY2) training program and is in precandidate status with American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). This program offers a one-year position in Critical Care Pharmacy residency alongside three PGY1 Pharmacy co-residents and one PGY2 Internal Medicine co-resident.
