Research Profile

Dr. Todd Vogel has been funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) to evaluate the value and impact of interventional and open surgical approaches to common vascular clinical conditions such as carotid interventions, treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms and lower extremity interventions. For this Patient-Centered Outcomes Research (PCOR) research he currently utilizes Medicare data, AHRQ Nationwide Inpatient Sample data and electronic medical record (EMR) data to perform comparative effectiveness research and evaluation of readmission using these large data sets.

Dr. Vogel currently serves in several leadership positions. He is a National Institutes of Health reviewer on the Healthcare Delivery and Methodologies Integrated Review Group, currently is on the Clinical Research and Comparative Effectiveness Committee for the Society for Vascular Surgery and is a consultant for the Vascular Surgery Board of the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Vogel is a distinguished fellow of the Society for Vascular Surgery, has been the recipient of E.J. Wylie Traveling Fellowship and is a member of the Society of University Surgeons. Dr. Vogel’s research develops evidence-based metrics and policy framework to address variations in surgical quality across both hospitals and surgeons.
